スペイン伝統行事 「火の牛」 A Spanish Tradition "Toro Jubilo" (bull on fire)

 
 
スペインのメディナセリで13日、「トロジュビロ」という名の祭りが開かれた。祭りの名はそのものズバリ「火の牛」だそうで、雄牛の角にタールを染込ませた2つのボール状のたいまつをくくりつけ、長時間苦痛で暴れ回る牛を見届ける伝統行事だそうだ。

この祭りは11月の2番目に当たる週末に毎年催されており、苦痛で死に絶えた牛の肉は、住民に分け与えられ、それを食べると子供を授かるなどの御利益があるとか。生きたままたいまつをくくりつけられる残酷さから、動物愛護団体などからは動物虐待との非難を浴びてもいる。

Every year on Novemeber 13th in the three towns of Soria, Spain and unspeakable event happens. The Spanish festival is known as Toro Jubilo, translated means bull on fire. This is a sadistic and unforgivable event that need to STOP! The residents affix balls of flammable tar to the horns of these innocent terrified, restrained bulls. The balls of tar are then set on fire and then animals are released to run madly through the cities. These bulls are left to burn in agony for hours. The tar burns like a bonfire on their heads, scorching their face, eyes and bodies. The bulls are blinded and run into walls and anything else that they come across. The carcasses are later divided among the participants.
